Duties

Help
  • Manages all phases of transportation operations and contracts to include specialized movement of ammunition and hazardous material and all systems that support movement.
  • Delivers pre-briefs to General Officers and Senior Executive Service members within the SDDC staff for 4 star level briefings.
  • Sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Provides accurate and timely updates to SDDC management officials.
  • Coordinates and implements decisions made by the Chief of Operations and G3 Directorate. Areas of emphasis include, but are not limited to active involvement in current operational planning.
  • Oversees global traffic management to ensure DOD customer freight movement requirements are met efficiently, effectively, and at best value.
  • Plans and manages the Battle Staff, a 24/7 operation, which controls the execution phase of assigned transportation assets world-wide.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required up to 25%.
  • This position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET Security clearance for duration of the employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to adhere to the Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Program. To include pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • This is a KEY position and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization incumbent must be removed from military recall status and refrain from joining reserve unit.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Providing overall direction as a Command expert for daily deployment/redeployment related operations; 2) Supervising daily operations of employees; 3) Managing transportation movement programs and operations; and/or 4) Developing program objectives, policies and procedures for global transportation operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
