Duties

Help

  1. Manages all personnel selections, briefings, and eligibility requirements on military and civilian personnel that deploy from Wright-Patterson AFB.
  2. Serves as the installation focal point for the personnel facet of all contingencies, exercises, and deployments.
  3. Maintains accurate accountability of personnel to ensure a concise picture of force capabilities supporting home station and other operations or missions.
  4. Monitors the Global Command and Control System-Air Force (GCCS-AF) systems assigned to the FSS IAW AFI 36-3802 and provides training to PERSCO Team members.
  5. Represents the 88th Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

  • This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Requires the incumbent be removed from military recall status.
  • The actual work performed in this position has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet any of the exemption criteria defined in 5 CFR 551. This position has been designated as nonexempt.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in managing personnel selections and deployments, serving as the installation focal point for contingencies, exercises, and deployments. This includes maintaining personnel accountability and monitoring the Global Command and Control System-Air Force (GCCS-AF). Experience also includes a comprehensive knowledge of military personnel program principles and practices, skill in adapting analytical techniques to improve program effectiveness, and the ability to prepare reports and communicate effectively with various organizations.

NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

EDUCATION:

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements for many positions covered by this standard.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of the principles, theories, techniques, practices, mission, and organizational structure of the specific program and or functional field to assist in supporting Air Force wide military personnel program administration responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of the laws, regulations, principles, and practices of military personnel programs.
  • Knowledge of sustainment program inspection requirements, reports, and program terms, as well as knowledge of common management principles to provide advisory services and inspect assigned programs.
  • Skill in adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness, and in serving as a technical specialist and spokesperson to further operating agency objectives on important issues.
  • Ability to prepare special studies and staff reports, including the ability to meet emergency and/or changing program requirements within available resources and with minimum sacrifice of quality or quantity of work.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and to communicate well with others, orally and in writing, including preparing and conducting formal and informal briefings.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
