Performs significant labor involved with golf course grounds maintenance. Operates heavy, complex riding lawn mowers and similar types of specialized mowing equipment and/or specially designed riding mowers that operate on slopes and require constant attention to working space and environment. Operates various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift, lower, adjust, engage, and disengage components or attached devices when working around: trees, greens, aprons, tees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, cart paths, sand bunkers, tee markers and cups on greens, trenches, slopes, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles. Completes all aspects of special assignments involving several steps, phases or detailed procedures (e.g., preparing ground, laying sod, planting flowers or shrubs and using simple drawings to establish a planting pattern and/or design). The laborer installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems; and may be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks or other equipment.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of: large, complex riding mowers and similar types of specialized mowing equipment; skill in operating various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift, lower, adjust, engage and disengage components or attached devices; skill in controlling and maneuvering large, complex mowing equipment; ability to independently complete assignments involving several steps, phases or procedures; ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
