Duties

Help

Serves as a support staff member in a Level 7 terminal and is responsible for tactical (day-to-day) and strategic (long term) support of multiple program areas such as training, quality assurance, airspace/procedures, plans/programs, operational automation or other areas. The work requires a comprehensive knowledge of the air traffic field in addition to the ability to apply this knowledge to the development of new methods, studies, approaches and procedures. The Support Specialist must also be knowledgeable of facility goals, objectives and staff study requirements.

  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.

Qualifications

Candidates must show specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as:

1) Must have held an FAA 2152-FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks); OR

2) Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility; (Note: an employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he or she has been performing the higher graded work; OR

3) Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.

NOTE: There are no restrictions on who can apply to MSS vacancies at those facilities with 3 or less MSS levels. In addition to the qualifications listed above for MSS positions, the chart on MSS position will be used to determine which career level applicants are qualified to make application.

This position is covered by the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Any applicant tentatively selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment or pre-appointment drug screening. Persons occupying a "testing designated position (TDP)" will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, candidates will be rated in accordance with the instructions on FAA Form 3330-43-1 (dated 6/00), Rating of Air Traffic Experience for AT Movement.

Submit FAA Form 3330-43-1 to your designated facility rating official at least 5 days prior to the closing date of the announcement. The rating official will complete FAA Form 3330-43-1 and return it to you for timely mailing. Bids from candidates which have not been certified and signed by facility management will be ineligible for consideration.
