Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
Incumbent must wear chemical protection masks, gloves and other associated equipment.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
Incumbent must pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
Successful graduation from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or willingness to attend the United States Army Civilian Police Academy after appointment.
Incumbent must be qualified/certified to use police weapons, crime scene evidence collecting equipment, automated police information retrieval systems, chemical aerosol irritants, tear gas and radar gun.
Incumbent must obtain and maintain state certification for radar and breathalyzer operations.
Incumbent must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56.
The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.

Specialized Experience: External Applicants: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Completing managerial functions such as performance evaluation, delegating tasks, conducting interviews and preparing reports. Current Federal Employees: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Assisting with law enforcement operations in areas such as prevention, detection, and/or reporting of crimes; 2.) Responding to/investigating emergency calls; 3.) Managing aspects of personnel administration such as evaluating performance, preparing schedules and assigning work and 4.) Ensuring compliance with police operations and administration policies/procedures.
