Duties

Help
  • You will present realistic photographic renderings of events or occurrences, which requires using a high degree of ingenuity and imagination.
  • You will create images from a wide variety of materials and processes that includes still photography in the studio and in the field.
  • You will modify images, video, and text using advanced software to effect design, style, layout, and sequence.
  • You will plan projects and use verbal, written, and visual communication to interpret, collaborate, and understand needs and constraints of the project.
  • You will collaborate with the customer to determine the materials and techniques most suitable to achieve their goals.
  • You will use video equipment, scanners, digital capture equipment or conventional artists materials to generate finished products.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to lift items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Work may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to work onboard ships.

Qualifications

For the GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as: applying operational principles to operate reality capture equipment (e.g., handheld scanners) OR unmanned systems for defined projects; performing established post-processing techniques on the collected data; and preparing visual information products like 3D models or imagery to support technical assignments under general supervision.
For the GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as: assisting senior specialists in the operation of reality capture equipment OR unmanned systems; performing routine aspects of data processing using established software and procedures; and organizing digital files and preparing basic visual materials as part of a larger project with frequent oversight.
For the GS-07:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as: providing technical support for reality capture OR unmanned systems projects, such as setting up equipment; performing basic, repetitive data handling tasks under direct supervision (e.g., file conversion, labeling, or archiving); and learning the fundamental principles of data collection and digital imaging workflows.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
For the GS-11:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled;
OR
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled;
OR
Obtained an LL.M. that is related to the position being filled;
OR
A combination of experience and higher level graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of required education plus the percentage of required experience must equal one hundred percent.

For the GS-09:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled;
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled;
OR
Obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled;
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of required education plus the percentage of required experience must equal one hundred percent.

For the GS-07:
Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled;
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement that included a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position being filled;
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of required education plus the percentage of required experience must equal one hundred percent.
