This is a Indefinite/Temporary appointment, with a time limit determined by the needs of the agency. Current Technicians selected will retain the appointment status currently in, (i.e., Permanent or Indef) and will be placed on a temporary promotion or appropriate personnel action if selected for this position. Conversion to permanent status may be accomplished when permanent funding is approved.

The purpose of this position is to provide planning, scheduling and control of aircraft maintenance through a variety of support maintenance shops.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implements preliminary (advance) maintenance plans for assigned weapon systems and schedules immediate maintenance for transient aircraft. Designates, maintains and monitors current maintenance repair priorities of aircraft to ensure actuality and compliance with flying schedules. Authorizes and assigns aircraft maintenance jobs, job control numbers ei ther manually or through a computerized maintenance system, work priorities, and start and completion times f or scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of aircraft. Conducts the control and dispatch of shop assignments. Monitors progress of job completion by dispatched personnel. Controls maintenance on assigned aircraft and related support and training equipment. Takes prompt and decisive action to make on- the-spot adjustments to maintenance repair priorities necessitated by unscheduled maintenance requirements, and incorporates all unscheduled maintenance into a daily plan.

Maintains visual aids depicting status of maintenance actions in progress, specialist availability and status of aerospace vehicles, aerospace ground equipment (AGE), training equipment, transportation and tow vehicles, munitions loads, arming of guns and munitions, and location of aircraft and dispatched AGE. Maintains a visual schedule of daily flying, noting deviations and cancellations.

Coordinates with Materiel Control on mission capable (MICAP) and non-mission capable status (NMCS) of parts, adjustments to in-shop work priorities, and verification of urgency of need designators. Determines the source of supply for cannibalization actions.

Coordinates with Quality Assurance on functional check flight (FCF) requirements, Air Operations on flying schedule, other maintenance shops for coordination of repair work and with other functional areas as required.

Requests necessary support services such as fire fighting activity standby, fuel and defuel and civil engineer support. Directs physical movement of aircraft and aerospace ground equipment.

Controls the maintenance communications and transportation systems to provide for the effective transmission of information and movement of material and maintenance personnel.

Develops and maintains current procedural check sheets for use during actions such as mass loads combat turnaround, broken arrow (nuclear emergency), emergency notification, aircraft crash, flightl1ne fire, severe weather warning evacuation. Monitors and revises the sequence of preselected aircraft required for contingency commitments.

Makes required inputs to the automated data system and retrieves data and/or computer generated products as required.

Conducts training of assigned military personnel.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade/rank listed in this announcement.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an INDEFINITE excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: E5 to E6

Selectee(s) must be within the military grade(s) listed in this job announcement prior to the effective date of placement into the technician position.

Applicant(s) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade.


Compatible Military Assignments: 2R or 2A Must be a fully qualified 7-Level in respective AFSC.


GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education and training which indicates the candidate can reason in quantitative terms, communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, understanding the terminology and data pertaining to repair operations and process characteristics of the production activity.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have specialized experience of 1-year equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07). Experience, education and training scheduling workflow in more than one area and responsible for coordinating products or materials from support activities. Experience in performing or supervising journeyman level work in a production facility. Experience preparing job or work orders; scheduling various phases of projects into the production facility; following up to see if work is progressing as planned and arranging for adjustments in materials, machine processes, and work sequencing allowing for changes. Experience with current automation support programs to input data, provide status of equipment, and monitor job order status, monitor work priorities, requisition repair parts, track repair parts status, etc.

It is not necessary for applicants to possess the MOS/AFSC listed as compatible to the position in order to apply, however applicant must meet the qualifications for the position. It is applicant's responsibility to acquire a compatible MOS/AFSC within 1 year of appointment. Coordinate with your unit's training representative to determine whether or not you can qualify for a specific MOS/AFSC and/or receive training within the 1 year timeframe before accepting the position.

Area II or Area III will be appointed Indefinite/Temporary status. Conversion to permanent status may be accomplished when permanent funding is approved.

Areas of Consideration: 1,2,3

Area 1 - Permanent or indefinite Military Technicians (Army and Air) currently employed with the NHNG. This includes NHNG AGR's who are covered under the Uniformed Service Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) and have rights back to a Military Technician position.

Area 2 - AGRs, Temporary Military Technicians, traditional/M-Day Soldiers and Airmen currently serving in the NHNG.

Area 3 - Individual eligible for immediate military membership in the New Hampshire National Guard (Army or Air, depending on compatibility) as a military member in the Military grade/rank listed in this announcement.
