Duties

Help
  • Perform program management/operations functions in support of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Manager to ensure the effectiveness of the EAP Program.
  • Provide professional counseling services to individuals relative to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Conduct assessments of workforce need and develops, conducts, and provides prevention education and training.
  • Provide Employee Assistance Program (EAP) guidance to workforce.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Employee Assistance Program Specialist, at GS-0101-12, you must meet the qualifications listed below.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

For the GS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience for this position is defined as: providing crisis intervention counseling services to include drug and alcohol; conducting interviews with employees seeking assistance; performing diagnostic evaluations, interpreting psychological tests and assessments to assess problems, design treatment plans, and issue referrals as necessary; and performing program evaluations to ensure compliance and program effectiveness to provide recommendations.

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
