Review radio-graphic CT requests to ensure it is the correct study, ensure each image meets standard, send images to radiologists, and ensure exam is complete.
Instruct, monitor, and observe other technologists in all aspects of the radiographic exam, patient care and handling.
Troubleshoot and assure CT imaging equipment are functioning properly.
Provide direct teaching and guidance for student and staff technologists in Diagnostic Radiology.
Monitor the function of digital and analog processors.
Be proficient with all diagnostic modalities of the Diagnostic Radiology Service, Department of Radiology to include Operating Room (OR), Portables, Urology (GU), and Orthopedic X-Ray.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent to have a current American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) License in CT and be registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza etc.) unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
This position may be required to work uncommon tours of duty hours as on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
Qualifications

Basic Requirement for Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist:
Radiology Certification: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75.
Essentially, they must (1) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field.
The following meet these requirements:
(1) Persons employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel prior to the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986) who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others.
(2) Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence as determined by OPM or the employing agency.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes operating computed tomography (CT) imagining equipment; administering oral and/or intravenous contrast media as part of imaging protocols; and participating in quality control (QC) or quality assurance (QA) programs for a radiology department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Diagnostic Radiology/Radiography.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
