Duties

Help

Develops, proposes, and updates policies and procedures governing the operations and maintenance of Air Force Fisher Houses for approval by the Air Force Fisher House Fund Board (AFFHFB). Establishes and implements program objectives, evaluates program performance, and adjusts objectives to meet mission requirements. Communicates program goals and guidance to all operating facilities.

Plans, coordinates, and oversees the NAFI and O&M budgets for the program. Reviews and approves budgets for all locations, consolidates them into the overall program budget, and prepares related administrative correspondence.

Reviews and approves all Fisher House maintenance, repair, and construction projects, including feasibility assessments for renovations and improvements. Develops administrative procedures, ensures facilities operate within approved budgets, and identifies efficient management practices. Issues guidance, instructions, and procedural updates for Fisher House managers. Conducts annual on-site assistance visits, evaluates facility conditions, and performs regulatory compliance audits, including follow-up actions on critical findings. Provides guidance on unique or complex situations not addressed in existing policy.

Identifies training needs and supports the professional development of Fisher House Managers. Assists managers with operational improvement plans and approves organizational structure changes based on operational requirements.

Oversees and coordinates all projects or gifts proffered by the Fisher House Foundation, including construction of new Fisher Houses. Represents the Air Force at ceremonies and official functions. Coordinates with installation leadership, Military Treatment Facilities, the Defense Health Agency, other military services, and DoD agencies to align program objectives with installation and community needs. Serves as the primary Air Force liaison to non-DoD governmental bodies, including Congress, and to civilian organizations such as the Fisher House Foundation and Local Supporting Foundations.

Plans and assigns work, establishes deadlines and performance standards, and sets short-term priorities. Provides guidance to employees on work and administrative matters. Conducts interviews and recommends personnel actions including appointments, promotions, and reassignments. Addresses employee and guest-related complaints, referring unresolved issues as appropriate. Administers minor disciplinary actions and recommends more serious measures when needed. Identifies employee training needs and arranges development opportunities. Develops performance standards and oversees subordinate supervisors to ensure consistent application of rating techniques and equitable workload distribution.

Exercises significant responsibility for program resources, resolves work issues elevated by supervisors or contractors, and reviews supervisory evaluations. Addresses group grievances and serious employee complaints, and approves major disciplinary actions for nonsupervisory staff. Makes decisions on complex or high-cost training requests and approves expenses such as overtime and travel. Recommends awards, bonuses, and position classification changes subject to higher-level approval.

Experience applying housing/lodging management methods; managing the operations of a housing/lodging facility; developing and maintaining a housing/lodging budget; communicating issues with proposed resolutions.

Desired Work Experience:
Experience utilizing computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft Office or equivalent programs and/or software)
