Summary

About the Position: Serves as Psychologist for the Clinic. Makes mental health diagnoses as appropriate in accordance with DSM-IV-TR criteria, or other, more current, accepted standards. Provides individual and group therapy, using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-mental therapy, and client-centered therapy. Assesses acute mental health conditions in beneficiaries who present with such issues.

Duties

Help
  • Conducts therapy, monitors, approves, and documents all treatment planning, and provides advice for case staffing, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling.
  • Reviews and approves the appropriate modality of each patient and develops treatment processes and procedures for orientation of patients.
  • Develops treatment plans for the most severe cases.
  • Provides structure and procedures for organization of case staffing information and approves diagnoses.
  • Participates with other professional staff in providing emergency mental health services on a scheduled, rotating, on-call basis to patients during normal duty hours to include screening patients for appropriateness of psychiatric hospitalizations.
  • Screens and interviews patients, and performs bio-psychological social evaluations, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling
  • Prepares and delivers briefings and presentations.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and approves use of community resources.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification.
  • Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Psychologist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
  • This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work.
  • This position has a TDY or business travel requirement of 5% of the time to various locations
  • This position requires a Pre-employment physical.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist

Degree:
Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:


Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting therapy, monitors, approves, and documents all treatment planning, and provides advice for case staffing, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling; expert knowledge of the full range of psychological testing; Developing treatment processes and procedures for orientation of patients; Coordinating with a variety of agencies to assist with the multidisciplinary treatment of patients that may include, but are not limited to social work, nursing, community counseling centers, the exceptional family member program, command and legal or other community agencies.


AND

Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of your license with your application package).
