Duties

Help

As a Director of Facilities Services, you will:

  • Reallocates or redirects resources when priorities change or problems are encountered; provides direction and advice on problem areas.
  • Manages short and long-range plans to ensure that stated goals, objectives, and deadlines are met; assigns work based on priorities and deadlines.
  • Provides leadership, oversight, and direction on all matters under the functional responsibility of the division to ensure the achievement of program goals; supervises, plans, organizes, and directs the work of the staff; ensures that an effective and technically knowledgeable staff is maintained; provides effective oversight and management of key program areas, including Engineering, Curatorial, and Property Management.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service. If no certification is made before the probationary (or trial) period ends, your appointment will be terminated.   • A one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws. A review of financial or other interests may be conducted to determine if they create any real or apparent conflict of interests with official Treasury duties.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on. Undergo an income tax verification

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-15: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience in ALL of the following:

-Provides management oversight and guidance for facility-related program projects, contracts and budgets.

AND

-Provides advice and policy interpretation regarding the development and leads execution of Facilities Management activities and services. Examples could include: annual work plans, master planning and facility reduction plans, facilities management, construction, utility services acquisition, Facility space utilization, sustainability, and occupant productivity and real property administration.

AND

-Directs strategic facility planning, asset utilization data, cross-organization coordination, and real estate services and spatial planning for subordinate organizations.

AND

Performs program management, forecasting and scheduling in order to resolve conflicts, work through constraints, and resolve resource challenges to include contract cost, schedule, and performance of facility-related projects and initiatives.


The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
