This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Help
  • Supervise and direct the activities of employees who perform duties and tasks concerned with CT scans of the had and/or body.
  • Advise senior leadership on departmental issues and their impact.
  • Assist radiologist in CT-guided biopsies, ensuring that sterile supplies, contrast material, catheters, needles and other required equipment and supplies are present and prepared for exams.
  • Confer with radiologist to establish requirements of non-standard examinations and determine technical factors, positioning, number and thickness cut of scans, etc., to satisfy the exam requirements.
  • Receive patients and prepares them for imaging procedures by explaining the process and answering questions.
  • Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Identify training needs and plans and administers in-service education and on-the-job training of subordinates.
  • Contribute to filling vacant positions by assisting with job requisitions, participating in candidate interviews, and aiding in the selection process.

  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position requires to obtain and maintain the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Certification.
  • This position requires on call work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Radiologic Technologist (Interventional Radiology):

Radiology Certification
: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (1) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field. The following meet these requirements:

(1) Persons employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel prior to the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986) who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others.

(2) Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence as determined by OPM or the employing agency.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) performing diagnostic radiologic examinations; 2) reviewing images for quality; 3) training technicians/technologists on radiologic procedures; and 4) reviewing and distributing workload to be accomplished by subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
