Duties

Help
  • Serve as a Vulnerability Researcher and Software/Hardware Developer leader in a US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Unit providing VR and development expertise to a wide range of customers.
  • Design and develop system specific test scenarios to test complex software from a variety of different technical perspectives.
  • Serve as a senior specialist, analyzes, designs, develops, enhances, maintains, modifies, and implements complex systems and specialized applications software for a variety of organizations.
  • Prepare application software requirements and designs specification for implementation of recommendations.
  • As a technical advisor, respond to difficult-to-resolve trouble reports from experienced applications software specialists and organizational users.
  • Assist in assessing progress against requirements, identify issues and propose solutions to meet customer end states and goals.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • May require consent to take a counterintelligence scope polygraph examination, if given access to a special access program.
  • Must pass the organization’s Personnel Reliability Program which includes credit check, drug screening, polygraph and psychological evaluation.
  • Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:

1. Maintaining a full range of system administration, local area network management, and web site development and maintenance, database management, software/hardware installation, software maintenance, and quality assurance to ensure secure, reliable, and mission-critical IT services.
2. Managing IT projects by developing or modifying existing program architectures, system relationships, processing sequences, and internal logic while representing the organization in coordination with external Intelligence community agencies and government partners to deliver inter-operable and compliant technology solutions.
3. Representing the organization conducting briefings for external Intelligence Community (IC), attend conferences, and participating in inter-agency conferences to achieve established software/hardware, and workforce capability objectives in support of operational and strategic mission requirements.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GG/GS-13).

**This is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel (DCIPS) STEM-aligned position which may be eligible for a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) based on selectee qualifications.**

*This position has been identified as being a Key Position under the provisions of AR 690-11, Use and Management of Civilian Personnel in Support of Military Contingency Operations. Because of the essential nature of these positions, the Secretary of the Army, or his/her designee, shall designate such positions as Key positions and shall require that they not be filled by Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations. Prior to occupying the position, Civilians must be exempted from recall to active duty because of Reserve or retired military obligations.
