This position has a requirement to lift up to 55 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Drivers License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain within 6 months a CDL Class A License with Hazmat Endorsement.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position requires you to be on-call and subject to callback.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): I have the ability to perform common Engineering Equipment Operator duties. I can operate large trucks such as dump trucks, snowplows, water trucks and chemical trucks, adjusting attachments while heavy equipment is in motion and grading surfaces to fine specifications. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Efforts:
Strenuous physical effort is used by the operator in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle large pieces of equipment and for frequent adjustment of equipment due to changing surface conditions
Light to moderate physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
Heavy physical effort is required when lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
Engineering equipment operation is performed outside in all kinds of weather conditions. Is subject to extremely hot temperatures and flying dust in the summer and the coldest weather during the winter. There is the danger of suffering cuts, bruises, and injuries while operating equipment on extremely bumpy and rough ground. Exposed to danger of tipping or overturning the vehicle when working on steep banks and side slopes. Incumbent is subject to unfavorable noise and fumes from equipment operated.
Drives in all types of traffic and weather and is exposed to the possibility of serious accident. The operator is subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving.
Continuing exposure to discarded or unexploded ammunition while performing laboring duties on firing range.
