This position is located in the Department of the Veterans Affairs VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLA) in Nutrition and Food Service (NFS). As the Motor Vehicle Operator you will operate a variety of trucks used in the transportation of food, assembled trays and supplies to patient care galley for GLA and Long Beach.
Summary
This position is located in the Department of the Veterans Affairs VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLA) in Nutrition and Food Service (NFS). As the Motor Vehicle Operator you will operate a variety of trucks used in the transportation of food, assembled trays and supplies to patient care galley for GLA and Long Beach.
Secure assembled food rays in vehicle to avoid disruption during transportation.
Pick up or transports food and supplies in and out of proper storage areas.
Ensure all transported food and food scheduled for transportation is stored correctly and at the proper temperature.
Assist with covering trays, and cleaning delivery carts when assigned.
Loading trays onto delivery carts properly, ensuring hot and cold foods are oriented to correct sides.
Utilize computer systems when needed to obtain information related to storage and distribution of food, meal trays/carts and supplies.
Perform operator maintenance on all vehicles operated e.g. monitoring fluid levels, replacing air filter and interior lights, checking tire pressure and hose connections and washing the vehicle exterior.

Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment including weight belts, utilize proper loading equipment, and employ recommended lifting techniques to prevent injury and/or damage to property.
