Summary

You will be responsible for managing and supervising all law enforcement officers assigned in accordance with the patrol distribution plan and desk operations on an assigned shift.
You will monitor radio transmissions for proper procedures and follows established procedures to initiate action for assistance.
You will be responsible for reviewing law enforcement reports and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy to include substantiating charges.
You will plan work, prepare schedules for completion of work, distribute and balance the workload among employees and guides employees in specific tasks and job techniques, provides on-the-job training to new employees.
You will respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty.
The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
Must successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT).
Failure to meet the PAT requirements as outline is Army Regulation 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program". Failure to meet the standards after the second attempt within a ninety-day period will result in separation.
IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply. Employee and prospective employee of this job are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct.
Mission Essential Position: In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
Incumbent of this position is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of law enforcement, physical security and force protection to include search and seizure; performing a variety of traffic control duties AND; completing and documenting reports/forms as necessary to explain the facts surrounding law enforcement actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
