Duties

Help

  • Assists the Outdoor Recreation (ODR) Director in planning, developing, managing, and maintaining the Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP)
  • Plans, coordinates, budgets, and executes program for special activities such as paintball, fishing, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, camping, outdoor cooking, hiking, biking, and other outdoor programs.
  • Plans and leads OAP activities and is responsible for patron needs. This includes safety in remote, overnight, and/or off base situations. Duties will include outdoor cooking for patrons.
  • Observes swimming areas and patrons during water activities to ensure safety, rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers CPR and/or first aid and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.
  • Responsible for maintenance, repair, and overall condition of program equipment.
  • Provides education programs and ensures safety orientation is address for all activities.
  • Performs a variety of simple, routine, and repetitive accounting duties which could include, but not limited to reviewing, computing, and verification of cashier's reports and bank deposit.
  • Initiates and coordinates work orders, purchase requests, BPA 's and maintenance contracts for ODR.
  • May be require to issue and receive rental equipment, answer phones, and run front counter operations to include taking payments and reservations.
  • Operates a variety of vehicles to include light to medium duty trucks, passenger vans, and utilities vehicles on and off base.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid driver's license and provide a current driving record prior to start date.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Citizenship/Residency: Must be a U.S. Citizen OR a non-U.S. citizen with 3+ years of U.S. residency.
  • This position requires the incumbent to hold, or be able to obtain, water rescue certification and American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications or a nationally recognized equivalent.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have 3 years directly related experience in recreation/community programs or outdoor retail to include knowledge of outdoor recreational activities, equipment, rules and procedures. Education may be substituted for experience if applicant has an Associate's Degree in Recreation or Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Must be able to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing. Experience with outdoor or group cooking is desirable. Will be required within one (1) year of employment to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card & role appropriate water rescue certification.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
