Duties

Help
  • Communicates with joint military and civilian staff.
  • Coordinate with staff personnel on issues pertaining to the testing qualifications of applicants.
  • Determine what data is required to effectively gauge status of Testing Programs and request data from the field.
  • Releases, tracks, and ensures completion of Taskers, policy changes, and Information Messages.
  • Clearly articulate policies, assess and resolve problems.
  • Analyze internal procedures and provides recommendations.
  • Oversees special purpose testing programs.
  • Examine, evaluate, and implement projects executing project management.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee is required to work occasional Saturdays, be on call, and work overtime.
  • Travel to MEPS is required approx. 50% of the time to train newly assigned MEPS Test Control Officer, Alternate Test Control Officers, and Test Score Technicians.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Clarifying guidance and policies to staff and supervisors; Resolves complex issues internally and externally based on guidance located within policies, regulations and precedents; Briefing managers on findings and recommendations on business processes.

The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-09).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, that is directly related to the work of the position, such as: Business Administration and Business Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 36 hours (total semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Education
