Duties

Help
  • Ensure the efficient delivery of law enforcement, physical security and fire emergency services for installation.
  • Coordinate law enforcement actions with local authorities to ease potential negative effects on surrounding communities.
  • Monitor law enforcement and fire protection and prevention programs, projects, operations and other activities to ensure short and long term goals are met.
  • Assign work based on relative priorities in consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments.

  • This position requires a valid, state-issued drivers license, pass the USAREUR-AF Drivers Test, have the ability to operate a motor vehicle, and must be insurable in order to travel to other locations in the USAG Poland area of responsibility.
  • This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance of access for the duration of employment which includes a background investigation and credit check.
  • This position requires a one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:

Administration and Management:
Ensuring quality performance of contracted services of security guards, emergency dispatchers, emergency medical treatment, ambulance services etc.

Planning and Evaluating:
Coordinating activities with the other garrisons to ensure efficient protection/prevention program management.

Public Safety and Security:
Exercising responsibility for law enforcement or fire protection/prevention programs that directly affect the life, health or safety of a community.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
  • Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.
  • Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions.
  • Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250.

Important Considerations Related to Assignments in Poland
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations.
  • The initial length of this overseas unaccompanied tour is 24 months.
  • Relocation/Recruitment incentive or service credit for non-Federal work experience (advanced leave accrual) may be authorized.
  • Separate Maintenance Allowance (SMA) may be authorized.
  • The USAG Poland is the newest garrison within the Department of Army. Because of this, some services typically found on an Army installation may not currently be available, including government housing, medical, AAFES, and Commissary facilities.
  • Access to medical and dental care in Poland is primarily through the use of local Polish medical and dental facilities on a fee basis with the possibility of reimbursement based on an individual's health insurance plan. Accessing medical care on the military installation is extremely limited.
  • At an exchange rate of approximately 4:1, Polish Zloty (PLN) to US Dollar (USD), the cost of living in Poland is very reasonable.
