Duties

This position is in the Evaluation and Inspections Division, in Washington, DC. If you are selected as an Administrative Management Specialist, your responsibilities would include, but would not be limited to:

  • Coordinates, analyzes, and evaluates administrative missions and operations of the Division relating to procurement and contracting administration. Provides guidance to managers on the process of reviewing procurement actions and oversees accurate and timely responses to the Division in the dissemination of supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in the implementation of the Division's financial management decisions, tracks various Division expenditures, and reconciles expenditures against financial system reports.

  • Coordinates administrative matters and provides direction and hands-on assistance to the Division in areas of human resource management, records and information management, time and attendance, travel, and small expenditures via the purchase card program.

  • Responds to data calls from Division management and assists in preparing responses for submission to the appropriate OIG Division or Office.

  • Assists with property management for the Division and coordinates with the Office of Management and Planning on acquisition, disposition, reporting, transfer and inventory of all accountable Division property.
  • Special projects and assignments as appropriate.

To qualify for this position, you must have one year of specialized experience obtained in the public sector. (Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.) Examples of specialized experience include such duties as:

FOR THE GS-09: You must have successfully completed a Master's or equivalent degree or 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR have 1 year (52 weeks) or specialized experience at or equivalent to a GS-07 grade level obtained in the public sector, OR a combination of education and experience as listed below. (Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.)

Examples of specialized experience include such duties as: providing administrative support for a division; managing multiple administrative projects; preparing and/or reviewing written correspondence; coordinating, analyzing, and evaluating administrative duties; preparing briefings, agendas, or presentations in support of assigned projects; developing and maintaining professional relationships with internal staff, leadership, stakeholders and customers; and knowledge of administrative practices, methods, and techniques to provide liaison services for procurement and contracting, supplies, property and office moves.

FOR THE GS-11: To qualify for the GS-11 grade level, you must have successfully completed a Ph.D or J.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR have 1 year (52 weeks) or specialized experience at or equivalent to a GS-09 grade level obtained in the public sector, OR a combination of education and experience as listed below. (Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.)

Examples of specialized experience include such duties as: providing administrative guidance and support to a division; managing multiple administrative projects; preparing and/or reviewing written correspondence; coordinating, analyzing, and evaluating administrative duties; communicating complex issues both in writing and verbally; developing and maintaining professional relationships with internal staff, leadership, stakeholders and customers; and knowledge of administrative practices, methods, and techniques to conduct procurement and contracting, supplies, property and office moves.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade level (or equivalent).

Education

At the GS-09 grade, you can qualify if you possess a Master's or equivalent degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

At the GS-11 grade, you can qualify if you have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

  • You must have obtained a qualifying master's, professional, doctoral, or technical/vocational degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous 2 years.All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
