Duties

Help
  • Assign work and special duties through shift Four Lead Dispatchers.
  • Plan work schedules, revise schedule to meet peak workload periods and manpower shortages.
  • Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls.
  • Provides emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority's emergency medical dispatch system.
  • Must monitor status and availability of police, fire and medical field units to assure an appropriate response is made.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • One year Supervisory probationary period.
  • Special Requirements Position is subject to shift work where the incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays) and may wear a uniform.
  • Incumbent is required to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition (TFPCON) or installation closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
  • The work is performed in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.
  • The incumbent is required to possess and maintain certification in CPR.
  • The incumbent is required to possess and maintain certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch System.
  • The incumbent is required to possess and maintain certification in DoD Hazardous Materials Awareness.
  • The incumbent is required to possess and maintain certification in Washington State Police Information Network.
  • Required to obtain and maintain DoD Telecommunicator I and II.
  • The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
  • The incumbent must maintain an overall compliance score of 90 percent, or better, as reviewed by the Advanced Quality Assurance (AQUA) software.
  • Individuals must possess and maintain a valid State of Washington driver’s license.
  • his position is designated as moderate risk involving Public Trust. Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation including a credit check to determine suitability for Federal employment and/or the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Maintaining an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to assure prompt and accurate response; 2) Responsible for assuring personnel assigned to the shift carry out work assignments in accordance with instructions; and 3) Provide emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls ensuring emergency service personnel respond with appropriate personnel and equipment and give pre-arrival instructions to callers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).


NOTE: This Installation does not have the intervening grade at the GS-09 level. Time in Grade will be considered at the GS-08 and GS-09 levels of experience.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
