Duties

Help
  • Drives passenger buses and various types of trucks and trash removal trucks weighing from 26,000 to 32,000 pounds on long or short hauls on the installation, public roads, and city streets in all types of traffic conditions.
  • Assists with loading and unloading cargo and materials. Ensures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity by checking cargo papers and by visual observation.
  • Completes trip tickets and preventive maintenance service records. Fills out driver's accident report in case of accident. Performs driver's maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license or CDL to operate a government vehicle with a capacity for transporting 24 passengers is required.
  • As a condition of employment, incumbent of a TDP is subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs. Incumbent is required to sign DA Form 5019-R.
  • Must be able to work during the hours of operation to include a rotating on-call shift that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class D driver’s license with F endorsement issued by the state in which employed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds, and occasionally heavier objects weighing up to 55 pounds with the assistance of others or weight handling equipment.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner.
  • Demonstrated skills in successfully operating standard tools
  • A valid state driver's license to operate a 15 passenger vehicle OR a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a 24 passenger vehicle.


In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
  • Possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Drivers License.
  • Possess demonstrated work experience operating wreckers and recovering cars and trucks from accident scenes or removing abandoned vehicles from various locations.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
