Help

As an Administrative Specialist, you will:

  • Develop the Washington, D.C. office budget, making sure that funds are used in accordance with the operating budget. Coordinates with various offices in BPA Portland headquarters to determine resource needs related to FTE, contracting, training, travel, equipment, etc.
  • Develop the appropriate Washington, D.C. office Working Capital Fund charges (office rent, supplies, etc.) and coordinates with other National Relations staff and BPA headquarters staff on Working Capital Fund "taxes" suggested by DOE for assessment to BPA.
  • Serve as the Accountable Property Representative for the Office of National Relations, overseeing the Annual Physical Inventory Report, receiving, transferring, and/or excessing property as necessary.
  • Participate with the National Relations Manager in planning, policy formulation, direction, and evaluation activities.
  • Determine which policy or public relations issues are urgent and advises National Relations Manager and office staff to help ensure timely response. Assures items are tailored according to agency policy, mission, values and vision.
  • Independently monitor actions of Congress, Federal Register notices, DOE News Clips, national energy and political press, upcoming BPA press releases, Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, and Notices of Intent and assures that public relations staff is informed of pertinent actions.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-11, in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as: 1) Managing high-level administrative functions (e.g., executive scheduling, stakeholder engagement, passport approvals, policy monitoring, etc.) to support organizational objectives and ensure timely resolution; 2) Directing office administration (e.g., budget, property, executive correspondence, etc.) and serving as a liaison for inter-agency coordination of high-level administrative matters.

"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
