Help

As an Supervisory IT Specialist (Software Applications), you will:

  • Direct, plan, and organize the operations of the Division, which is staffed with subordinate supervisory and administrative IT employees.
  • Coordinate application activities with other divisions to ensure effectiveness of purpose and efficient use of office resources. Work closely with other offices in the Bureau to identify systems and procedures which can be effectively improved by the application of automated techniques.
  • Provide expert comprehensive program management to support the Deputy Assistant Commissioner in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Informational Technology Strategic Vision and Roadmap. Support overall efforts to improve and modernize IT services and process across the bureau and relevant hosting providers.
  • Direct and manage the operations of the Division through program reviews, establishment of management practices, assessment of workload requirements, and utilization of resources. Determine staffing and budgetary resource requirements for the Division. Formulate and evaluate the Division's program goals and objectives. Periodically review these goals and objectives to ensure linkage to Fiscal Service objectives.
  • Initiate and direct special and continuing studies to test, adjust, or improve existing computer software, or devise and implement new software of great complexity.

  • This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.

For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:

  • Oversight of program-level initiatives, including information technology (IT) systems development projects involving multiple information technology (IT) disciplines from design to support; AND
  • Experience providing advice, recommendations, and escalation of issues to management and other vested parties on topics surrounding information technology (IT); AND
  • Experience supervising a technical staff of information technology (IT) Specialists.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in the following areas:

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.
