Duties

Help
  • Serves as a Supervisory Sexual Assault Response Coordinator providing professional and comprehensive advocacy services to victims/survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment.
  • Enforce compliance among SARCs and VAs with SHARP protocols and procedures for advocacy services and SHARP prevention personnel for SHARP-related prevention activities.
  • As a credentialed SARC, the incumbent is responsible to perform duties as a SARC as required and outlined in AR 600-20 (24 July 2020), DoDI 6495.02, change 4 (11 September 2020) or any current SHARP regulatory guidance.
  • Evaluate proposals for systems and/or programs required to meet existing or anticipated operational problems, challenges and changes in the operations environment.
  • Responsible for the full range of supervisory duties for a diverse population, to include exercising significant responsibilities in dealing with officials of other units or organizations.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle should the need arise to operate a government vehicle/motor pool vehicle.
  • Incumbents must complete initial training and obtain D-SAACP certification within 6 months from the starting date of appointment as a SHARP VA.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to Catch a Serial Offender (CATCH) Program, Defense Sexual Assault Incident Database (DSAID) and Integrated Case Reporting System (ICRS).
  • In accordance with DoDI 6495.03 investigation requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Minimum of a Tier 3 background investigation must be conducted every 5 years IAW the OPM requirement.
  • Incumbents may serve in an “on call” duty status outside of normal work hours that include remaining in a reasonable call back radius, carrying a cell phone, staffing the 24/7 support line duty as needed,
  • Incumbents are required to self-report civilian arrests, the filing of criminal charges, and/or convictions of any criminal offense to their supervisors.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Sexual Assault Response Coordinator:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Social Service, Counseling Service, Human Services, or Psychosocial.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR

C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of demonstrated specialized experience which includes (1) providing professional advocacy and crisis intervention services for victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault; and (2) managing sexual harassment/sexual assault cases from initial report through disposition and resolution to ensure regulatory compliance and the health and well-being of victims; and (3) maintaining case documentation and data quality in official reporting systems to ensure coordinated care and compliance; and (4) assisting in training and outreach activities to promote awareness, prevention, and understanding of reporting procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).


You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:


Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
