Help

This position is located with the 161st Air Refueling Wing in Phoenix, Arizona. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders in accomplishing the work of the Propulsion Element and to perform associated non-supervisory work. The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Engine Mechanic, WG-8602-10.

  • ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 161st ARW.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver's license.
  • This position is subject to rotating or night shift work.
  • Applicants who currently possess one grade higher than the above posted grade, may be considered for this vacancy, however they must be reduced in grade prior to appointment if selected.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-6/TSgt (immediately promotable) to E-8/SMSgt

[NOTE: All applicants in the rank of TSgt/E-6 must be immediately promotable IAW DAFI 36-2502 Table 10.1 as of the closing date of this announcement]

Compatible Military Assignments: Must possess or be able to obtain AFSC 2A6X1

[NOTE: If applicant does not already possess AFSC 2A6X1, they must qualify per AFECD requirements]

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge [experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and powertrains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical records, and diagnosis] applicant must possess at least 36 months experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
