Duties

Help

As a Yellow Ribbon Program Specialist, GS-0301-09, you will assist with the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and daily administration of the YRRP to include the contracting of conference facilities, lodging, meals, and professional onsite child care. Serve as an advisor on the YRRP Program and family program issues relevant to the service members and their families during the deployment cycle, with the intent of maximizing readiness of the service members and their families. Assist in planning, maintaining, and updating an ongoing system of information and referrals for use by the military community. Provide necessary assistance to units and/or individuals to ensure accomplishment of all Deployment Cycle Support tasks during appropriate phases of the deployment cycles to include coordinating reception activities, briefings, training, and spouse/family education. Perform other duties as assigned.

TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT:
Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status

INDEFINITE: Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician. Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period. Indefinite appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least 24 months experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

They shall not be eligible for retirement contributions, participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, or a supplemental or redetermined annuity for the employment period. Discontinued service retirement annuitants (i.e., retired under section 8336(d)(1) or 8414(b)(1)(A) of title 5 United States Code) appointed to the Department of Defense may elect to be subject to retirement provisions of the new appointment as appropriate.
