About the Position: Serve as Uniform Business Office (UBO) Technician for Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia Directorate of Resource Management.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Compare account balances in various financial and billing information systems with related data to assure agreement.
Perform various functions which support all phases of the Medical Affirmative Claims, Third Party Liability, Medical Services Accounts, Third Party Collections Elective Cosmetic Surgery and Inter-Agency Billing programs.
Assist with under-paid or unpaid claims.
Provide technical guidance to other personnel regarding assigned areas of responsibility.
Audit daily work for use of appropriate International Classification of Disease and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, clinical rate, and payment posted to accounts and denial or reduced payments compliance guidelines.
Coordinate with the Inpatient Records staff to ensure inpatient records are approved in a timely manner and solicits verification of outpatient visit codes, when indicated, to facilitate efficient and expeditious billing.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
The incumbent must complete training and meet position requirements for certification at Level 1 within 2 years of appointment. Failure to obtain and maintain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.
Qualifications

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing and submitting claims to responsible parties, and utilizing automation systems to reconcile financial data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Education
