Duties

Help
  • Enforce laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, and Army Regulations to protect life and property.
  • Conduct investigations of certain felonies and all non-felony matters involving crimes against property or crimes against civilians, military and their dependents.
  • Collect evidence for use in investigations.
  • Conducts interviews to gather information or identify suspects.
  • Execute arrest and apprehension procedures.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a drug pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate weapons qualifications.
  • Must attend and successfully complete the United States Army Military Police School, Military Investigator Course.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment entry level physical, agility test, and must be able to re-certify annually, per AR 190-56.
  • Must be able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to use police weapons, equipment, cameras, crime scene evidence collecting equipment, and automated police information retrieval systems.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Conducting investigations into alleged or suspected violations of criminal laws and military regulations in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies; 2) Responding to crime scenes to collect and preserve evidence; and 3) Preparing case records to include investigation findings and recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-8).

In order to attend Investigative training, applicants must have one year of military police or civilian police experience.
