• Monitor the dispensing of all pharmaceuticals in the medical facility and allied facilities.
• Counsel alternatives that will still satisfy the medical needs of the situation.
• Design medication use and disease state education for patients and caregivers in both individual and group settings that effectively meets their needs.
• Review non-emergent orders prior to the first dose and assesses these for potential adverse drug events.
• Provide verbal education and training designed to enhance patient understanding and appropriate use of his/her medications.
• Document medication therapy notes in the patients' chart on a daily basis to address therapeutic outcomes.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist:

Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience in a medical facility which includes dispensing medication prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects; evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations; performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program; planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens; establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications; researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and maintaining all medication records required by law.
