As an SUPV IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK), GS-2210-12, you will serve as Computer Network Operations (CNO) Team Chief, supervising a team of specialists ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems, networks, and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools. Enhancement of information systems security programs, procedures, and tools are specifically accomplished by conducting vulnerability assessments and operations of planned and installed information systems and ensuring all protection needs are met. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance be eligible for access to Special Compartmented Information (SCI) within one year of appointment.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
  • THIS POSITION CONDUCTS INFORMATION ASSURANCE FUNCTIONS. THE INCUMBENT SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION.

Qualifications

Military Grades: O1 through O4

Compatible Military Assignments: 17SX
*Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSC

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11). Experience includes: Ability to direct a team in the performance of in-depth assessments of installation information security. Responsible for refining and implementing squadron policies and procedures to detect, exploit, and recommend countermeasures for customer installation vulnerabilities. Exercises supervisory responsibility and authority including granting leave, recommending personnel for promotions, and initiating disciplinary actions as needed. Establishes performance standards and appraises performance of subordinates.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
"Information Assurance Certification" is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position."
