Duties

Help

Serves as the primary liaison with the FLETC for all training logistical issues to include scheduling student housing, classrooms, auditoriums, as well as any student support services required on a routine or individual case basis. Ensures participant training records are documented by processing/ keying the completed training information into the Bureau's automated system.

Drafts Introduction to Correctional Techniques (ICT) class schedules and memorandums related to policy changes that may affect class schedules or have a significant impact on BOP institutions. Maintains administrative records to ensure required programs are fully implemented and the BOP training standards and the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections standards are met. Provides procedural guidance and advice to BOP institutions regarding waivers for Introduction to Correctional Techniques and any other special circumstances that may areas.

Types correspondence, memoranda, policy materials, tables, reports, or other similar materials form handwritten copy, rough copy, or typewritten materials, being responsible for correct punctuation, spelling, capitalization, grammar, etc. Receives and screens all mail coming into the department. Routes correspondence, circulars, and other materials to the appropriate staff member.

Qualifications

How Do I Qualify for this Position? To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements.

Education:

As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

OR

Experience:

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:

  • Experience researching training related issues, processes, and methods to assess their functionality and effectiveness in meeting the program objective.
  • Experience in composing class schedules and memorandums related to policy changes.
  • Experience in processing/keying training records into an automated system.
  • Experience with coordinating conferences, departmental training/schedules or events.

If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

Additional information

The representative rate for this position is $55,506 per annum ($27.77 per hour).
