Duties

Help
  • Provides guidance and support on the government travel program to include the Defense Travel System (DTS) and the Government Travel Card program. Serves as the focal point for all inquiries related to the travel program.
  • Responds to suspense requests, from both external and internal sources, and provides background information, analyses, comments, and recommendations as required.
  • Provides program guidance and recommendations in order to increase program effectiveness, efficiency, and/or economy of operations.
  • Develops project plans, resource expenditures, and risk assessment data in order to assess the project's ability to meet stated and desired objectives from both a program and an agency-wide perspective.
  • Serves as a Government Purchase Card holder and is responsible for processing and maintaining all records, justifications and required paperwork necessary for maintaining an auditable record of funds expended

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • This is a drug testing position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) as a condition of employment.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 Executive Branch Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500.7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work an alternative or shift work schedule.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Qualifying Experience:

To qualify at the GG-05, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience in effectively communicating information verbally and in writing in order to provide clear, comprehensive guidance, or experience serving as the primary point of contact for administrative support programs, such as the Government Travel Card (GTC) program, Defense Travel System (DTS) administrator, or the Government Purchase Card Program (GPC) program.

To qualify at the GG-07, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience in effectively communicating information verbally and in writing in order to provide clear, comprehensive guidance; or experience serving as the primary point of contact for administrative support programs, such as the Government Travel Card (GTC) program, Defense Travel System (DTS) administrator, or the Government Purchase Card (GPC) program; or with project management techniques used for developing, implementing, maintaining, and overseeing programs and contracts.

Education

GG-05 (2-grade interval) Substitution of Education for Experience: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

GG-07 (2-grade interval) Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement may be substituted to meet the qualifying experience requirement. If you are using education to substitute for the qualifying experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply.

To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education .

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services at the time of application. Salary will be determined based on the grade level of the selectee. The salary listed reflects the 2026 General Schedule Base scale. Salary will be adjusted to meet the locality pay of the duty location upon selection.   • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
  • Accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 3 year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at either grade level.
  • This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to target position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management. However promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of a promotion is implied.
