This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Pine Bluff Arsenal. Position serves as a Sheet Metal Mechanic Leader, the primary purpose of this position is to serve as a working leader over Sheet Metal Mechanics.

Duties

Help
  • Work along with other workers, setting the pace.
  • Answer workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
  • Obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work.
  • Ensures that the needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available and attained.
  • Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Sheet Metal Mechanic Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Duties such as 1. Performing welder duties using electric, acetylene and/or inert gas shield welding process; 2. Planning the steps required to accomplish work orders; and 3. Demonstrating proper work methods. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Work requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching and often times working from ladders and scaffolds; often lifting objects weighing 50 lbs. and more; and often working in awkward and cramped positions for long periods of time.
  • Performs work indoors and outdoors, from extreme hot to extreme cold, from clean areas to extra-hot and dirty areas. Incumbent is exposed to possible injury from burns, falls, strains, cuts and bruises.
