INR/AF reviews and analyze classified/unclassified materials concerning the political, economic, military, counterterrorism, and foreign policy of the 49 countries of sub-Saharan Africa.
Summary

INR/AF reviews and analyze classified/unclassified materials concerning the political, economic, military, counterterrorism, and foreign policy of the 49 countries of sub-Saharan Africa.
Supervises five all-source intelligence analysts on two sub-regions of sub-Saharan Africa (East, West, Central, and/or South), covering roughly 20 to 25 countries.
Supervises the provision of intelligence support (including oral briefing and original written analysis) to Department policymakers, including the Secretary, Presidential envoys and special representatives; and the Bureau of African Affairs (AF).
Advises the AF Assistant Secretary, AF Bureau Deputy Assistant Secretaries, and other senior managers and staff on program issues and problems, including analysis/collection of information about the assigned region by the U.S. Intelligence Community.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
Obtain/maintain eligibility to access Sensitive Compartmented Information
Qualifications
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing research, analysis, advice, briefings, and guidance for senior government policymakers on multiple aspects of political, economic, social, military, counterterrorism and foreign policy, ideally, but not necessarily involving sub-Saharan Africa.
Experience working with the Department of State and the Intelligence Community in carrying out national intelligence activities.
Experience producing and editing collaborative, written analytic products for the Bureau of Intelligence and Research. Similar experience with another IC element is not required, but is desirable. .
Experience working with interagency processes, particularly but not exclusively within the Intelligence Community and other national security agencies.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-15 position.
