Duties

Help

The Chief of Staff serves as a senior strategic advisor to the Federal Co-Chair and plays a central role in advancing the mission and priorities of the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission. This position coordinates cross-departmental initiatives, supports organizational strategy and operations, and ensures effective communication and alignment among Commission leadership, staff, and external partners. The Chief of Staff helps translate vision into action by managing priorities, improving internal processes, and supporting high-level decision-making.Duties performed:

  • Working closely and effectively with the Federal Co-Chair to keep her/him informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities and following up appropriately to prioritize conflicting needs.
  • Handling matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
  • Researching, prioritizing, and following up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the Federal Co-Chair, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature.
  • Creating and maintaining cross-departmental and intra-agency relationships (i.e. States' Alternates, Program Managers) to enable leadership success; act as primary Federal Office communications arm with the States' Alternates and others in the organization, or major stakeholders.
  • Assisting with budget proposals and communicate with other federal agencies to ensure reports and budget justifications are accurate and punctual.

Qualifications

Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-14 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:

  • Providing senior advisory support to executive leadership by analyzing policy and operational issues;
  • Developing collaborative relationships with federal agencies, state and local governments, congressional offices and/or other stakeholders to communicate program priorities;
  • Analyzing program data and/or operational challenges to improve program effectiveness, efficiency and/or mission outcomes; and
  • Overseeing organizational operations to include assigning and reviewing work, monitoring progress toward organizational goals, and/or recommending process improvements.
