Duties

Help
  • Provide psychological and clinical consultation services to other professional and paraprofessionals.
  • Select, administer, score and interpret psychological tests.
  • Plan, organize and assign work and monitor accuracy of performed work for military and civilian personnel.
  • Formulate diagnostic impressions, treatment plans and recommendations utilizing test data and psycho-diagnostic interviews.
  • Provide individual, couple, family and/or group counseling utilizing a variety of treatment modalities.

  • This position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Supervisory Clinical Psychologist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States ......
  • and participate in continuing education programs to update and/or maintain skills and knowledge to meet requirements for continued state licensure.
  • This position is required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
  • This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • This position is designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situation the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position is subject to TDY or business travel requirements to various locations. This may require travel via privately owned vehicles, commercial transport platforms, and/or military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical annually and thereafter.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position requires credentialing. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to meet credentialing requirements.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Supervisory Clinical Psychologist:

Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:

Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as: providing psychological counseling, assessing patients to determine an appropriate diagnosis, developing treatment plans, and instructing others in proper therapeutic techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure Requirement: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
