Works under the direction of the Outdoor Adventure Director, participates in a large year-round Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP),Trap and Skeet (T & S) Leads, teaches, organizes, advises on, assesses and administers outdoor recreation programs. Develops and submits all marketing requirements. Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for OAP activities/programs, T & S. Interprets regulations, develops local compliance procedures and addresses related problem situations. Ensures programs operate in compliance with all applicable regulations, laws and operating instructions. Plans, organized, teaches, participates and directs program activities such as, but not limited to, white water rafting, kayaking, fishing, clamming, ATVing, hiking and canoeing. Establishes and maintains adequate inventory of supplies and equipment required to provide for uninterrupted operations. Ensures operations are adequately staffed and customer service is provided. Ensures cash handling and financial transactions are completed, reported as required, and purchasing and pricing guidelines are adhered to. Operates general and special purpose vehicles to include pickup trucks, Snowcats, A TV's, snow-machines and boats. Will be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including evenings, weekends and holidays; work often requires working outdoors in inclement weather. May be required to travel away from JBER. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sept 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Formal education will include an Associate's degree or higher in recreation or related field. First aid and CPR certification at a level equal to or exceeding Outdoor Emergency Care or Wilderness First Responder & Swift Water Rescue Technician certification required (or must obtain within 6 months of employment). Applicant must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with individuals and groups. Working knowledge and ability to teach/lead outdoor activities, i.e. white water rafting, kayaking, hiking, Alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, ATVing, snow machining, etc. Must have knowledge that ensures compliance with regulations, laws and requirements for health and safety. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) and pre-employment drug test. Must be at least 21 years of age for issuance of alcohol.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
