This position is located in the, Bureau of Intelligence and Research, Office of Analysis for East Asia and the Pacific,China Division (INR/EAP/CH). The Division is responsible for program review/ analysis of classified, unclassified, & open-source materials concerning China, Taiwan & Hong Kong.

Duties

Help
  • Supervises nine analysts in providing consistent intelligence support (including oral briefing and original written analysis) to Department of State policymakers.
  • Provides analytical support to the Director of National Intelligence, the National Intelligence Council, and Senior Director for East Asia and the Pacific, including through service on interagency Strategy Boards as appropriate.
  • Coordinates actively with other agencies of the U.S. Intelligence Community in support of the President’s Daily Brief, National Intelligence Estimates and other interagency processes.
  • Serves as the Department’s expert representative at meetings concerning regional foreign affairs intelligence analysis and in exchanges concerning division issues and chairs working groups and task forces in support of foreign policy development.
  • Advises the EAP Assistant Secretary, the Under Secretary for Political Affairs, the Secretary of State, U.S. policymakers and Members of Congress on highly sensitive geopolitical developments in the region.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience providing research, analysis, advice, and guidance on all aspects of the political, economic, social, civil military affairs, and regional geopolitical developments involving China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
  • Experience working with the Department of State and the Intelligence Community in carrying out national intelligence activities.
  • Experience in providing oral briefings and written analysis for senior government policymakers on all relevant issues involving China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
  • Experience working with interagency processes, particularly but not exclusively within the Intelligence Community and other national security agencies.

There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-15 position.

  • Knowledge of intelligence research and analysis concerning all aspects of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
  • Ability to develop strategies used by the analytic unitin fulfilling its responsibilities to support the Bureau in matters regarding intelligence research for China, Taiwan and Hong Kong
  • Knowledge of administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervised
  • Ability to deal with officials of other units or organizations, or in advising management officials of higher rank
  • Knowledge of planning and conducting analyses of vital policies that are of national or international interest, scope, and impact; to generate and apply new hypothese and concepts in the evaluation of complex policy questions
