Duties

Help
  • Respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
  • Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.
  • Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
  • Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56. a. Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
  • b. Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter. c. Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid Secret security clearance investigation.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • The incumbent will be required to wear a uniform and may be required to use heavy, cumbersome, restrictive personal protective clothing or gear such as masks, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, shields, body armor, etc.
  • Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations.
  • Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends, i.e., mandatory overtime; subject to recall to duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Serve as a police officer mentor/Instructor by conducting duties as Field Training Officer, providing guidance on law enforcement policies and procedures to team members; 2) Perform law enforcement duties to include collect evidence, conduct searches, and administer first aid; and 3) Enforce laws to protect personnel and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
