National Transportation Vetting Center (NTVC) operates 24/7 across 4 locations to conduct comprehensive vetting, risk assessment, and analysis of passengers, credentialed transportation workers, and cargo-identifying and confirming high-risk individuals and shipments.

This Supervisory Transportation Security Specialist position is located Operations Support (OS), Intelligence & Analysis, Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:
Interprets vetting match results produced by an automated vetting system. Utilizes classified and unclassified databases and computer-aided tools to conduct extensive research and interpret and evaluate complex, multi-source data to determine whether an identity being vetted is a match to an identity on terrorism-related watch lists.
Ensures compliance with vetting regulations to associated reporting requirements. Directs the preparation and distribution of vetting results reports provided to Local, State and Federal agencies.
Conducts substantive analysis to identify trends and patterns in transportation vetting results that are significant in the identification and mitigation of threats to the transportation infrastructure.
Supervises the work of subordinate staff which includes assigning tasks, setting priorities, monitoring, and evaluating performance, coaching an developing employee capabilities, approving leave, and taking/recommending corrective/disciplinary action, as necessary.
Collaborates with supervisors, team, and Operations Officers to review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and recommend changes, as necessary. Implements a wide range of changes and initiatives to SOPs as required.
Advises stakeholders of changes in national security policies or practices impact program operations.

Qualifications
To qualify for the SV-I Pay Band (equivalent to GS-13), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-H or GS-12 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is defined as:
Applying security policies, procedures, and practices related to the biographic vetting of individuals; AND
Analyzing vetting and/or credentialing programs to modify or develop new programs and/or procedures.
Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
