Duties

Help
  • Serves as a Project Technician on energy, renewable and water projects.
  • Assists with the preliminary planning, development of requirements, schematic plans and budgetary cost estimates leading to detailed engineering design of energy and water related projects.
  • Applies practical experience and on-the-job training to perform energy and water saving engineering duties.
  • Assists with the design and estimating of complex control systems for new and existing facilities on post and applies practical knowledge of engineering principles to assess specific requirements.
  • Reviews proposed maintenance, repair and new construction projects for energy and water impacts and available utilities resources compatibility.
  • Review is made to ensure compliance with energy and water consumption goals as assigned by higher headquarters, and with applicable Department of Defense and Department of the Army Regulations.
  • Conducts preliminary engineering investigations to determine the feasibility and validity of new energy and water projects, analyzes conditions and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Collects and maintains files of installation energy consumption data.
  • Serves as technical energy advisor to the Energy Manager and Division Chief.
  • Analyzes base-wide energy and water data available from Energy Management Control System (EMCS), Metering and delivery tickets.
  • Serves as the Contract Officer Representative (COR) for the propane delivery and utility privatization contracts.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May be required to go TDY (Temporary Duty travel) at least 5% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state issued motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Position requires a Secret clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 upon entering the position and annually.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: assisting, analyzing, evaluating and recommending solutions to engineering systems problems and issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
