Duties

Help
  • Serve as Project Manager responsible for the overall management, control, coordination, and execution of assigned projects.
  • Implement corporate decisions, guidance, laws, regulations, and policy in the development of the project and intermediate products in support of the project.
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining the District's corporate commitment to the management plan.
  • Coordinates the planning, design, cost engineering, construction, etc., for projects of substantial scope and complexity as, measured by the in diversity, geographical location, management demands, technical intricacies, and issues.
  • Controls and manages project milestones and budgets from planning through construction and project turnover.
  • Reviews and analyzes cost reports to assure charges are authorized and appropriate and identifies unauthorized charges and assures corrective actions are taken for the ultimate disposition of inappropriate charges.
  • Reviews project progress measuring performance and taking necessary corrective actions to maintain agreed upon schedule and cost.
  • Represents the District Commander serving as the District's primary point of contact for projects assigned with stakeholder/customer; other external organizations; and higher authorities.
  • Responsible for keeping the stakeholder/customer fully informed of project progress, issues and their resolution, and any impact on costs.

  • In accordance with USACE policy and the Program and Project Management Career Development Plan (CDP), Program and Project Managers are required to achieve CDP certification within two years of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify for the GS-12:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managing a project delivery team, ensuring alignment with the Project Delivery Business Process; AND 2) creating and managing detailed project schedules; AND 3) managing project budgets and funds in accordance with Agency requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-12: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • This is a TERM NTE 13 months position and may be extended at management's discretion. TERM NTE appointment may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. May NOT be made permanent without further competition.
