Duties

Help
  • Serve as the liaison between supervisors of the Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC), and several NAVFAC(Navy Facilities Command) FEAD(Facilities Engineering Acquisition Division) offices.
  • Manage Committee as part of The Joint Commission (TJC) Compliance and remediation program.
  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities and scheduling its completion.
  • Develop a comprehensive program of facility maintenance and repair for assigned facilities.
  • Serve as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for all minor construction or repair projects, reviews and approves drawings and estimates for materials and labor.
  • Determine the total budgetary requirements to support the assigned facilities operations, maintenance, and repair plans.
  • Prepares budgetary estimates and justifications to obtain program fiscal resources.
  • Provides benchmark information to measure and assess the effectiveness of facility management programs.
  • Serves as the principal advisor and subject matter expert to the Commander on all issues relating to facilities.
  • Provides strategic planning and conducts continuous review of facilities and engineering programs

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: oversee facility requirements to include the repair and modifications of existing facilities as well as any new construction requirements; validating the need for proposed new construction while determining requirements for projects; and developing short- and long-range planning for the maintenance and development of facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
