Duties

Help

As a CIVIL ENGINEERING (GS-0810-12) you will Provide supervisory (less than 25%) and technical assistance to the Base Architect/Engineer in overseeing and managing the engineering shops and production control function. Provides technical support to all assigned sections. Provides guidance to these sections on standard and code requirements.Develops engineered solutions to technical problems, which are incapable of being resolved by subordinates. Typical problems require the need to perform extensive mathematical and technical calculations in engineering to include civil, mechanical, electrical, or general engineering as well as architecture. The incumbent provides subordinate guidance and team leadership to Dual Status and Title 5 employees. Incumbent performs planning development necessary to accomplish architecture and engineering functions for programs essential to state Air National Guard daily operations, training, and readiness missions. Fosters an environment conducive to teaming among service providers and customers to meet state Air National Guard requirements

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience, education, or training for management, supervision, or performance of (1) planning, designing, construction, and/or maintaining structures and facilities; and (2) investigating, measuring, surveying, and mapping the earth's physical features.

Education

Education requirements:
Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics

Additional information

Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: May be authorized for highly qualified candidates or hard to fill positions. TAG is final approval authority for any incentive requests.

PCS - Relocation costs are authorized subject to provisions of the Joint Travel Regulation and an agency determination that a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is in the Government's best interest.

Superior Qualifications and Special Needs Pay-setting Authority may be considered for this position. TAG is final approval authority for incentive programs (applicable to newly appointed federal employees or those with a 90 day break in service).



Conditions Of Employment:
