This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1351P02 and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.
As a Powered Support Systems Mechanic, WG-5378-10, you will plan and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop, which is then completed by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements. Devises and maintains all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance. Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision. Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.
PHYSICAL EFFECTS: Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion when standing, stooping, and bending. Routinely required to lift heavy objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally, lifts items between 50 and 100 pounds with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works indoors and outdoors. May work in inclement weather on icy, wet, hot, and slippery ramps, work stands, ladders, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers of toxic fumes, shock, high noise level, possible cuts, abrasions and burns, extremely low temperature cryogenic liquids and extremely high air pressures while repairing adjusting, positioning or moving equipment.

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
PCS:Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted: E6 thru E7
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must you have experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:WG11 Must have at least 18 months experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories; experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments; experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships; experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
