This position is open to applicants currently located in the local commuting area (local commute is defined as within 50-mile radius of hiring installation). Preference will be given to qualified Military Spouses relocating under PCS orders.

Duties

Help

General (Duties include but are not limited to):

  • The incumbent is responsible for the counter control operations of the Bowling Center, which included the collecting and accounting for all cash and maintains daily records as required.
  • Controls the facility for the use of authorized patrons.
  • Responsible for bowling resale, shoe rental, billiard room, league bowling, control of waiting list and collection of all fees and charges.
  • May be responsible for keeping bulletin boards up to date with league notices and other promotional materials pertaining to the Bowling Lanes and Recreational Services Activities.
  • Keeps bowlers informed of all specials and league events.
  • Handles customer phone inquiries and also those of new patrons.
  • Keeps mechanic informed of any stoppages or failures on related equipment.
  • Ensures the counter control area is kept in a neat and orderly manner at all times.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Conditions of employment

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.

  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.

  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must possess a C.A.R.E (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively), Emergency First Responder (EFR) or CPR First Aid, (NASBLA) Safe Boating certificate, or equivalent OR be able to obtain these trainings/certifications within 90 days.
  • Applicant must reside within the local commuting area at time of applying. Local commute is defined within a 50-mile radius of the installation

Qualifications

Specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of the goals, philosophy, principles, and methods of procedures used in organizing, planning, administrating and conducting facility operations.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Guidelines concerning Marina Operations.
  • Knowledge of the daily operations of the facility to be able to answers questions from patrons.
  • Knowledge of the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs for recreation or marina operations.
  • Knowledge of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity.
  • Knowledge of boating terminology, watercraft operation and maintenance, water and boating safety, handling of boats (e.g., launching, mooring, etc.), boating equipment and facilities, and recreational boating activities.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to follow instructions, present options and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate excellent customer service techniques and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to effectively operate office machines to include cash registers and computers.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and perform basic word processing and spreadsheet tasks using Microsoft and site-specific software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must have 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience.

Education

Required:
6 months or more of general experience AND 6 months or more of specialized experience

OR

Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in courses related to recreation (e.g., basic psychology, group dynamics, physical education, arts and crafts, etc.).

OR

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience as described above.
