Summary

You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Security Services Department of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING AND EXPEDITIONARY WARFARE CENTER.

This position is part of the Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC) Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-02 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS 5 through GS-11. The NT-03 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 through GS-14. This position has a control point equivalent to the GS-12 step 10 level.

Duties

Help
  • You will utilize various automated systems to manage the processing of security clearances, including receipt of security documents, initiation of background investigations.
  • You will analyze background investigation forms and applications, fingerprint results and law enforcement agency checks to ensure correctness and resolve conflicting information.
  • You will review and evaluate personnel security investigations, incident reports, and continuous evaluation alerts for derogatory information.
  • You will evaluate and conduct security reviews of statement of work and performance work statements to determine appropriate security requirements, provide security language, and develop DD Form 254 Contract Security Classification Specifications.
  • You will be responsible for supporting and sustaining all matters pertaining to safeguarding, transmission, and destruction of unclassified and classified information.
  • You will perform a broad spectrum of duties and responsibilities in one or more of the command Security Programs.
  • You will establish and maintain effective working relationships and information networks with other DoD components affected by organizational programs.

Qualifications

To qualify for the NT-3: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05 through GS-11 or NT-2) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:. 1) Utilizing Information, Industrial, Personnel, and Physical Security concepts, principles, and practices to analyze and resolve security problems; 2) Coordinating objectives, interpret policy, and provide interpretations to resolve security issues; 3) Resolving and/or making recommendations concerning issues involving conflicting regulations, policies, and procedures; 4) Using Defense Information System for Security (DISS), Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission (SWFT), and the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) eAPP.

To qualify for the NT-2: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-01 through GS-04 or NT-1) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles and practices of Personnel, Information, Industrial, and Physical Security Programs; 2) Organizing and monitoring security programs utilizing database applications; and 3) Using computer systems to draft briefings.

A master's or equivalent graduate degree.
