Duties

Help
  • Direct production-line support, including problem-solving, designing line layouts, process monitoring, line-leveling, equipment readiness, and troubleshooting line stoppages.
  • Study, analysis, and consideration of several possible courses of action, techniques, general layouts, or designs and selection of the most appropriate materials for use in production.
  • Work with teams in a manufacturing environment on process-improvement events using various tools of continuous improvement, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and total productive maintenance.
  • Designs special tools, tooling, jigs, or fixtures used in a manufacturing environment.

  • Temporary duty (TDY) business travel is required less than 25% of the time.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must possess and maintain installation driving privileges. Installation automatically grants unless suspended or revoked.
  • May require working rotating shifts, adverse shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Identify and/or resolve technical problems in ammunition, munitions, or explosives manufacturing by applying established policies, procedures, and engineering methods. 2) Support production-line operations through troubleshooting, process monitoring, and equipment readiness to minimize line stoppages. 3) Make recommendations based on preliminary data interpretation and test results for technical reports or documents. 4) Select proper materials (metals, metal alloys, plastics, nylon, Teflon, etc.) for specific items, tools, tooling, jigs, or fixtures in a(n) ammunition, munitions, or explosives manufacturing environment, to be made, renovated, or broken down. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NJ-02).
